According to Cost of Wedding.com the average cost of a wedding is roughly, $26,444. While that number varies depending on a variety of circumstances like location, number of guest etc, having the wedding of your dreams doesn’t have to break your wallet in the process. Here are 5 easy ways to save on your wedding:
Pick 3 Things You Want to Focus On: These 3 things will vary from couple to couple but if you can easily pick 3 things that you’d much rather spend your budget on it will greatly help you reduce the cost on other items. For instance if you want really good food, a great dj and a really nice dress. But you don’t care too much for flowers, wedding favors or having a extravagant transportation…why spend a whole lot of money on it? This doesn’t mean those items will look horrible or cheap but it does mean they won’t necessarily be a priority.
Use More Greenery: Flowers can cost a grip! And some cost wayyyy more when they are out of season and have to be specially shipped from other locations. Adding more greenery to your florals can save you tons!
Have a Signature Drink Instead of A Full Bar: Listen, having a full bar can be expensive. How about you do a signature cocktail that you and your fiance’ come up with along with the bartender. That 1 drink will be served all night as opposed to having a full service bar with wine, liquor and other alcohol.
Use a Venue Outside of the City: If you live in a major city like Atlanta, Chicago, New York we all know that some venues closest to the city cost more. Now this is not true for all because their might be this really nice venue that’s an hour away that everyone seems to flock to. But for the most part venues farther outside the city tend to cost less. To add to that don’t chose a typical wedding venue. If you like a space, that isn’t typically used for weddings or receptions however, you have a vision for it, go for it. You may be able to strike up a good deal with the owner that costs you less than going with a typical ballroom or wedding venue.
Hire A Planner: I can not stress this enough. A wedding planner or even just a day of coordinator can work with you and get you some of the best deals around based off their relationships with vendors. Also, a wedding planner gives you peace of mind on your wedding day. Who wants to worry about giving directions on their big day? That’s what your planner is for!
Bonus: If you still can’t seem to get your budget in tact consider cutting down your guest list. With most caterers or venues charging per head bringing down your list can save on money. I know this is something that most couples dread as they don’t want to offend anyone but you have to stay true to your budget.
