Desvari & Derrian were high school sweethearts who dated for 8 years before tying the knot. What started off as puppy love turned into something more…something real as they grew up together and navigated adulthood together as well. They were married at MICHAUDS Town & Country, a traditional ballroom venue in Ohio. Read all below as the bride describes their love, proposal and wedding day.
From the Bride:
We’ve been dating since high school…yes we are high school sweethearts! Eight years of love & we are truly best friends. Going from high school, military, college, to careers has been AMAZING! Honestly it’s been such a blessing being able to grow with and for each other. Experiencing each stage together has allowed us to build something that’s rare to find now days. Some cool facts about us would have to be Derrian was in The United States Marine Corps and I never wanted to do hair, but now I am the Educator/Manager at The #1 Blowout Bar In Columbus, Ohio thanks to the BEST owners Kristin D. & Kailen E. How would you describe your relationship? It’s different. We’ve had the chance to figure life out together. The way we operate comes naturally. We have our healthy arguments, but otherwise everything else just comes from love. Starting our independency in another city away from family forced us to trust and rely on each other. We can finish each other sentences, he knows how I operate and think and likewise for me with him. Our biggest asset is talking- we love talking to each other. Whether it’s discussing daily issues, debating with each other, and some good football! He supports my every thought & is so involved with all that I do. I’ve never had constant support from anyone so when he began supporting my hair dreams it felt unreal and I knew he would be my husband. Derrian is definitely the calm to my storm as our friends would say. I feel as if God gave him to me in order for me to find who I was destined to become. All in all, I love our love and relationship. I wish more people could experience something like this. It’s like whatever each of us didn’t have we found it in each other and became one. Definitely an indescribable journey we’ve created! What was it like on your big day (married)? To be completely honest it was unreal. Having all of your friends & family ever in one room just for us was indescribable. We always knew we’d get married we just did not realize the amount of friendships we built over the years along with combining two families. Everything was perfect. There was no crazy “day of tragedies” thank god!! Everything was absolutely beautiful and BEYOND what we imagined once we started planning. It was so nice to sit at our table and look around seeing everyone enjoying themselves. So much love was shared that day it was mind blowing. Proposal story? Our proposal was so customized to how I am it’s hilarious. For Christmas Derrian gave me wine glasses (I was pretty disappointed) and along with the glasses he gave me an appointment card. It was an appointment for pictures at a photography studio back in Cincinnati where we were living at the time. At this point, I was SO confused. “Why pictures? The holidays are over” anyways, I went along with it. We arrived to the studio and we began taking pictures. She’s takes a few shots that were kind of pointless, but I didn’t know what these photos were for so I went along with it all. Derrian stops the shoot to go to the restroom BUT instead he go to his coat. Once he comes back the photographer says have a seat here and “do your own pose”. Next thing you know he’s walking around from behind me and gets down on one knee! I looked to the photographer in shock! Took me awhile to process it because I did not expect that coming at all. To make things just perfect, just a few minutes later we walk over to our favorite local bar and as I walk in I hear “SURPRISE” and all my friends, family, coworkers were there waiting on us after our engagement. It was perfect, custom, and unforgettable.”
