Good day beautiful people!! I hope you all had a great weekend and welcome back. Today, I’d like to talk about something that’s rarely ever discussed during planning a wedding and that’s healthy eating! To help with this I’ve invited someone who seems to be doing a pretty good job of this. I ‘met’ Fifi Buchanan of The Divine Hostess via twitter and quickly became obsessed with her blog and thought it would be a good idea to ask her a few questions about healthy living.
1. Tell me about your site and the reason for starting it? The Divine Hostess first stemmed from my love of entertaining others. I did not originally have such a heavy focus on health, as it was just already part of my lifestyle. As I went on to share recipes, I realized I was very passionate about offering healthier options to people for foods that they have come to love over the years. I realize food is social and brings nostaligia– I don’t want to take that away.
2. You’re always posting great recipes and food options..what’s a typical day of eating consist of? I often say when I share my posts on Instagram– not every day is glamorous! Sometimes it’s a simple sandwich loaded with veggies and chips on the side, and of course I start my day with oatmeal. Even when my meals are simple, they are always balanced with fiber, protein, and healthy fat. I dress up my oatmeal with low sugar fruit, a few tablespoons of nuts, and a TON of cinnamon. As for sandwiches, I always make sure my bread has 4 to 5 grams of fiber per slice and I’m very generous with the spinach or kale I pile on top of the protein. I’m a graduate student who does not use a microwave, so dinner is often a heaping bowl of salad with beans, nuts, and lots of other yummy varieties of color and texture.
